Neither starter figured in the decision and both bullpens escaped multiple tenuous situations. In the end however the Texas bats, more specifically Nelson Cruz saw one too many good pitches to hit. With one swing of the bat Cruz became the first player ever to hit a walkoff grand slam in the playoffs.  Final score: Texas 7 Detroit 3.   The Rangers now take a commanding lead into game 3 in the motor city.
